Waaban Village
Upper Peninsula, Michigan
Water. Woods. Wonder.
Welcome to Waaban.

The Place
A little wild. Intentionally so.
Waaban Village grew from the imagination of a career archaeologist who has spent decades thinking about people, places, and the stories landscapes carry. Here in northern Michigan, that story includes the Ojibwe people, whose connection to this land reaches from time immemorial into the present. Waaban Village does not pretend to tell that story for anyone. It simply begins with respect for it. Waaban is our small effort to live thoughtfully within that much bigger story: to care for the woods and water, make room for adventure, drink good coffee, spend time fishing and wandering and sitting around a fire, and give families and friends the chance to slow down together. The hope is simple. Leave the place a little better than we found it, and build something worth passing on. Rise and Shine with Waaban.
